MtnRnr Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 10, 2026
MtnRnr, pronounced "Mountain Runner," is a running and training application designed to help users review workouts, plan training, track shoes, manage support work, and understand training-related fitness estimates. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, how it is stored, and what choices you have.
1. Information MtnRnr Uses
MtnRnr may use the following information when you choose to provide it or authorize access:
Workout data, including run distance, duration, pace, elevation, route information, heart rate, cadence, splits, and workout source.
Apple Health data that you authorize, such as workouts, workout routes, heart rate, sleep, steps, VO2 max, active energy, and related activity metrics.
Training plan data, including planned runs, race goals, training phases, support work, and calendar assignments.
User-entered profile and training details, such as age, weight, training history, preferred units, race goals, recent soreness, recovery notes, and review responses.
Shoe and gear information, including shoe names, mileage, retirement status, and workout assignments.
Imported workout files, such as GPX, FIT, or TCX files, when you choose to import them.
Backup files that you choose to create, export, or restore.
2. How MtnRnr Uses Information
MtnRnr uses this information to provide app features, including:
Displaying workout history and workout detail views.
Calculating training load, fatigue, form, readiness-style guidance, heart-rate zones, paces, and Running Score estimates.
Creating and updating training plans.
Showing calendar assignments and plan adherence.
Tracking shoe mileage.
Summarizing completed runs and planned workouts.
Providing Siri shortcut responses for today's assigned run, today's completed run summary, and today's assigned strength workout.
Supporting backup, restore, import, and local data management features.
MtnRnr does not use Health, fitness, route, profile, or workout data for advertising, third-party marketing, data-broker sale, or cross-app tracking.
3. Apple Health Data
MtnRnr requests access only to Health data types used for app features. Health access is controlled by you through Apple Health and iOS Settings.
MtnRnr reads Health data only after you authorize access. MtnRnr does not write data back to Apple Health. You may change or revoke Health permissions at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.
4. Local Storage
MtnRnr is designed to keep core training data on your device by default. Workouts, plans, shoes, support sessions, soreness logs, settings, and related app data are stored locally unless you choose to export a backup or share a file.
If you delete the app, locally stored app data may be deleted by iOS unless you have created a backup outside the app.
5. Backups and Restores
MtnRnr allows you to create manual backups and may maintain local automatic snapshots. Exported backups are saved only where you choose to save them, such as Files or iCloud Drive.
Backup files may contain workout, plan, profile, shoe, support work, and settings data. Anyone with access to an exported backup file may be able to access the information it contains. You are responsible for where you store or share exported backup files.
Restoring a backup reapplies the app state stored in that backup.
6. Siri Shortcuts
MtnRnr supports Siri shortcuts for selected training summaries. Siri shortcut responses are generated from local cached app data, such as today's planned run, today's completed run summary, and today's assigned strength workout.
Siri requests do not create a MtnRnr account, start a new Health sync, or send workout details to MtnRnr servers. Spoken Siri responses may be audible to people nearby.
7. Imported Files and Third-Party Sources
MtnRnr may allow you to import workout files such as GPX, FIT, or TCX files. These files may include workout, route, location, heart rate, elevation, and device-source information.
Garmin, Suunto, COROS, and similar names may appear as workout source labels based on imported files or Apple Health source metadata. MtnRnr does not currently provide official direct account login, provider OAuth, or direct cloud sync for those services.
8. Third-Party Services and SDKs
MtnRnr does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not embed any third-party tracking technology. No data is transmitted to MtnRnr servers or to any third party as part of normal app use. (If this changes, update this section — see note at the end of this document.)
9. Sharing and Disclosure
MtnRnr does not sell your personal information. MtnRnr does not share your Health, fitness, route, workout, profile, or training data with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
Data may leave your device only when you choose to export, share, back up, or import data through system features or third-party storage locations you control, such as Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, email, or other apps.
10. Accounts
MtnRnr does not require a MtnRnr account for the core app experience. The app does not use a remote profile system for core training features.
11. Data Retention and Deletion
MtnRnr keeps local app data on your device until you delete it, replace it through restore, delete the app, or use available in-app deletion features.
You can revoke Health permissions in Apple Health or iOS Settings. Revoking Health permissions prevents future Health reads but may not automatically delete data already stored locally in MtnRnr. To remove local app data, use the app's data-management features or delete the app from your device.
12. Children's Privacy
MtnRnr is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information — including Health, fitness, or profile data — from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information. Because MtnRnr is designed around Health and fitness data, parents and guardians should ensure any use by a minor complies with Apple's device account requirements and applicable age-consent laws. If you believe a child has provided personal information through MtnRnr, please contact us at the address below.
13. Fitness and Medical Disclaimer
MtnRnr provides fitness and training estimates. Training load, fatigue, readiness, heart-rate zones, Running Score, pace guidance, and plan recommendations are informational fitness tools only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, injury assessment, or a substitute for advice from a qualified clinician.
14. Security
MtnRnr relies on iOS device security, app sandboxing, Health permission controls, and local storage protections. You can improve protection by using a device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, encrypted backups, and careful handling of exported backup files.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure.
15. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If material changes are made, the updated policy will include a new effective date.
